Becoming a Junior Birder:
Youth of all ages can earn a Junior Birder patch as they learn about birds and what they need. You will even build your own blue bird box to bring home.

Prairie Wildflowers & Grasses Walk:
Join us as we observe the waving seas of native grasses and flowers. This is the habitat that is unique and vital to the grassland birds.

Friday, June 20th

5:45 am	Registration and early refreshments
6:00 am	Guided Birding Tours depart from near Refuge Headquarters
9:45 am	Take a break – enjoy morning refreshments
10:00 am	Birding 101 – How to use bird identification guides. Featuring Darrel Rytter
11:00 am	Piping Plover Recovery – How is it done? Featuring Connie Mueller, USFWS
12:00 pm	Lunch Break complimentary lunch served at Lostwood NWR
1:30 pm	Junior Birder with Jackie Jacobson and the FWS Team	Prairie Wildflowers and Grasses Walk with Karen Smith and Connie Mueller

Festival closes at noon. For a fun afternoon and evening, head in to Powers Lake and enjoy the Celebration of Summer featuring food and fun in the park on the shores of the lake!
